For the past 2 months I have had very common disconnects. They usually happen around 9-12 PM and last around 10 minutes each time they happen. This trend seems to pop up every few months and I usually have a handful of technicians come to my home just to tell me they cant find anything wrong. I have not had the idea of doing any traceroutes during these downtimes just yet, but I have been a bit busy recently during the time that these happen. I bought a new router and still have the same issue. I have covered the basics including turning both devices off for 15 minutes every time it happens, performing a factory reset on the device, and of coarse buying a new router.

Modem - SB6121
Router - WRT54GL
Carrier - Comcast
Devices - Custom Desktop (Wired), Lenovo Laptop (Wireless), PS4 (Wired)

Could be the modem overheating.
Over here in the Uk I have a virgin Media super hub, a combined modem router solution.
But from time to time it over heats.
This causes the modem to lock up or freeze, or I have loss of internet sometimes.
I have to reset the modem/router and let it cool a bit before it works properly again.

In the end I created a fan and cooling solution to force cold air from the bottom of the opening vents. to the top vents of the modem By a small fan I had connected to a 12v power adapter.

It`s never froze since the fan mod to this day.
You may want to look into the fact that the modem could be over heating, if you have replaced the router and still have trouble.
Or Try to put the modem in a cooler place in your room where it`s housed.

I tried that today, and the connection cut out within an hour. I was able to do more troubleshooting this time. Upon performing a trace route it was frozen and when the connection came back online it returned "traceroute: unknown host google.com". I checked the modem and it was not hot whatsoever, and I had it off for a while beforehand too. I did notice that the modem had reset when this issue appeared. Do you think it could just be a dying modem? I dont want to drop 80 on a modem unless I am sure here.
