I just upgraded to windows 10, and for csgo my fps is stuck around 140-145. I have a 144 hz monitor.

before I upgraded to windows 10 I played at 300 fps. Im guessing csgo or windows is locking my fps to my refresh rate. vsync is off in game and on nVidia control panel.

its only in csgo other games such as League I have fps around 300-400
any ideas?

Do you mean it is capped at 145 or can it go over sometimes? When I upgraded to windows 10 a few days ago I went from 300 to 200 fps. I had to reset my PC which took about an hour. Go to settings/updates&security/recovery. If it is capped try fps_max in console or if Windows 10 is doing it I can't help you there.

He probably does but I am sure he wants to have the extra fps so if he gets in a bad area of a map he can maintain above 144fps.

Did you type fps_max in console? Also make sure you update your drivers. You might have a program that is doing it. I have a program called RadeonPro that has the option to cap my fps to refresh rate that I have to make sure I turn off.

I appreciate the help.

Another windows 10 calamity Sigh.

Does anyone ever stop to think that Microsoft cannot test 100% of all combinations of hardware in a Pc.
And that although they release a new os to the public there are going to be problems because of that fact.

Pc`s are not a fixed format based hardware device.
So when you rush out to install a new Os released by Microsoft, that above the in house testing of the new OS on pc systems, is flawed because they cannot test for 100% compatibility based on the wide range and mix of hardware used in pc based systems.

That Joe public is in fact the Guinea pig in order for Ms to be able to find the bugs in the software relating to different hardware configs of systems.
That`s why you use a bit of logic and hang back from installing a new OS, from one that was stable and works 98% of the time.
If you look at the history of every OS released by Ms that truth pans out like it or not.
It`s only you Joe public who fixes the bugs by reporting it to MS.
About a Quarter of people who installed windows 10 will be regretting it due to some error or fault.

I have all the sympathy in the world for people who have lost Data or windows 10 in some way has impaired there system and as a result may of lost files, and valuable data.
And the problems are mounting on the forums here with windows 10 growing in numbers.
Like I said it`s to be expected, and has been the case when Ms releases a new Os sadly to say.
No doubt thing`s like this will be fixed in a few months with patches and updates. by MS.

Till then it`s hang on to your Hat`s.

Or I can just do some research, and fix the problem. I found the solution and now have a wonderful experience with windows 10.
I would do this with any new or old operating system. But I understand your point. I can see the problem but like you said its to be expected

So what was the solution for others who might have a similar issue and search and this thread comes up?
