Hi there everybody

So I recently got my hands on a second hand Club3d 7950 Kingpin Edition.

I've read reviews online and watched many videos of people overclocking this card right upto to the max limits.

I can set the core to 1175mhz at 1.125V which is nearly topped out - that's imo is fine thermals are great too not exceeding 70 degrees core and vrm as well.

But my memory speeds which are at a default of 1250, if I just bump it even 50mhz benchmarks like Valley refuse to run forcing me to force restart. I have read people overclocking memory to 1500mhz as standard with extremes being 1800+

What is going on?

My GDDR5 is Elpida and the gpu has a 384 bus width, I even tried OC the mem voltage by 50mV still no luck.

Lastly I am running windows 10 with latest amd drivers the card appears on gpu-z as a r9 200 series card hmmm?

Thanks for the help

overclocking VRAM doesn't give much performance boost; between 1250 and say 1400, the performance difference is about 4%; you get most gains from the high GPU core clock, not VRAM

it's all about the core, the performance you can gain from overclocking the memory is not worth the loss of core overclock you could have gained instead
