Cpu fan running at full speed!

Hi guys

I just replaced my corsair h55 for the cooler master hyper evo 212 because then h55 had problems. I am using it with a push/pull configuration. temps are good nothing wrong there but 1 fan wich is on the cpu fan header is running at full speed all the time.

Fan setup :

- 1 Corsair fan (from an old case) as exhaust in the back. Max rpm 1500
- 2 Corsair Sp 120 Led fans as push/pull on the evo. Max rpm 1700
- 2 Corsair Sp 120 Led fans as intake in the front of the case. Max rpm 1700

-Motherboard : asus m5a97 evo r2.0
-Cpu : Amd fx8320

Now the problem is : In the bios i can set the cpu case fan speed for 4 of the fans with the asus case fan (setting turbo) and that works perfectly fine. Except the 1 Sp120 fan wich is setup to pull air in on the evo is running at 1700rpm all the time. This fan is on the cpu fan header and i can set the setting for this fan to in the bios wich is called asus cpu fan control. but no matter wich setting i use it always runs on 1700rpm.

All these fans are 3 pin fans so why does this 1 fan always run at fullspeed while the others are controllable?

Another question these are the fan speeds atm.

cpu Fan on the evo : 1700rpm (Cpu fan header)
Pull fan on the evo : 1200rpm (fan header 1)
exhaust fan : 1400 rpm (fan header 2)
Front intake fans : I can only see the rpm in bios for these somehow it does not show these in hwmonitor or overdrive. they run perfectly fine and these 2 are set up with a splitter on the fan header.

Why is the second fan on the evo running 1200 and the exaust fan 1400 rpm. and I believe the intake fans run 1400 to at least higher then the other sp120. or are the fan headers labeld different on the mb then on amd overdrive. And why am i not able to see the last fan header speeds in hwmonitor or amd overdrive.

hope u guys can help:)

Solution
try installing and running asus fan expert from in windows and see if it works.

the fan control in my bios is terrible (gigabyte mobo) but the windows utility works great

I have 1 that says cpu fan wich is the full speed fan.

all the others are called case fan headers.

it should override them. leave as is first, then if it doesnt work turn them off.

Thx ill try, but if it doesn't work. Could i put the 1500 rpm exhaust fan on the cpu fan header so that one runs at full speed. and all the sp120;s are controlled? they speed up when teh cpu gets hotter anyway. and the 1500 rpm one makes less noice + thats the only exhaust fan so if that runs higher i dont realy mind.

I just tried fan expert. It does override but again only the chassis fan settings make the fans go slower. but the cpu fan settings dont make the cpu fan slower:O

Push-pull gains you little, if any, efficiency. You would be better served removing that fan and pointing it directly at your CPU socket/PWM if you like to OC.

And, using the smart fan settings or 3rd party utility to regulate fan speeds/profiles should work for you.

I am running the newest 2603 bios. flashed a few weeks ago.

But could i switch the exhaust fan and the sp120 headers so the exhaust runs at full speed and the other fan thats on the heatsink wil be controlled?

yes i know but i had the 2 sp fans anyway because i ahd push/pulll on my h55. Or should i remove it and remove the standard corsair fan in the back and put one sp120 as exhaust and one on the evo?

Also i dont think i can fit the fan anywhere to let it blow air on the cpu socket .and how would i mount it if it does fit. adn my case the bitfenix neos is not the best airflow case ;p

Also the cpu fan header control just wont work. all the other headers can be controlled but the cpu fan header just doesn't work.

I have put the hyper evo 212 pwm fan as exhaust fan on the cpu header. now all fans are controlled so am setting this as solution because fan expert is indeed helpfull :)
