Infinite Reboot Loop

My pc recently started getting stuck in an infinite reboot loop. It never gets to POST, neither are there any beeps, nor is something displayed onscreen. The funny thing is that, sometimes it starts running normally without any reboot loops. But 7 out of 10 times, it gets stuck in an infinite reboot loop. One of my friends suggested that the motherboard might be damaged, whereas others suggested fault with the RAM. I would very much appreciate help in this regard.

The computer is not newly assembled (5 years old) and no hardware/software changes were made before the first instance of infinite rebooting.

I did try clearing the CMOS, but the reboots still happen. But sometimes the pc boots up and works fine (replying from my pc right now), so I was thinking it isn't the motherboard that's damaged. I hope it isn't the motherboard, since I will have to buy a new processor as well then (its LGA 775,outdated).
