Need help deciding what PSU I need to get

I am upgrading my PC for a upcoming game but can't decide what PSU I should get.

When I use a calculator I get varying answers for each one:
ASUS: 750w
eXtreme: 561w
PowerSupplyCalculator: 404w
NewEgg: 721w

Computer Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955

Mobo: ASUS M4N68T-M-V2

GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290

RAM: 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1600

HDD: 930gb HDD SCSI 7200rpm

Optical: CD-ROM

I am currently using a 500w PSU with AMD Radeon HD 6450 for a GPU and I have been told that this is not enough for a 290.

You need 650 watts for R9 290. This EVGA model is a better deal then most 650's.

Get the same one as me, works a treat AX860I, 80Plus platinum, 92% efficient, that wouldn't be stressed out by your rig either, look on Amazon, they are £145 on Amazon.co.uk if you overclock the power supply here will let the overclock be more stable also

Try to get a decent power supply unit, as it basically determines the fate of your computer, for me personally selecting a quality PSU is a top priority

Which 290? For most a 550 is plenty with 31 AMPs on the 12 volt rail, some come with high OCs and may want to kick up to a 600 if planning to try even higher OCs

I would personally get a high quality 550W power supply manufactured by XFX or Seasonic!

Then look to a 550-600, XFX, SeaSonic and EVGA all have good models

Do you know of any good, cheap ones? I had one recommended awhile ago but it cost more than the 750w one even with mail in rebates.

It's a better deal and higher quality than the 600 Tradesman1 recommended. A little extra power never hurts and you can upgrade the video card later on and overclock too if you want.
