I have just assembled a new computer, for a friend with the following:

Motherboard - Gigabyte -GA-78LMT-USB3.
RAM - ADATA XPG V1 4GB DDR3
CPU - AMD FX-8300 Processor - 8 core, AM3+
Hard drive - Western Digital Blue internal 1TB
Power Supply - SolidGear 650W
Cougar Spike Mini Gaming Tower

I am pleased to say that Windows 7 will now load, without rebooting with a flash of the dreaded blue screen. But whenever I try and load in any programming it will reboot with a message of "Windows has recovered from a serious error...." or something close to that. I changed the cables going to the hard drive and I have switch SATA ports, repeatedly and now I get the Blue Screen of Death flash right before it reboots. And it always reboots.
I have read so many different articles in the last few days I am confused, and frustrated. I have encountered the dreaded BSOD before, but never on a new build.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

I have switched out the PSU and got the same BSOD. I am now working with a new hard drive, fingers are crossed.

Thanks

What's the bsod code number ?
That psu is terrible, just looking at amazon reviews. That's probably the case of ur problem, ditch it and get something from tier 2 or 1 if u can afford it

Ok, Thanks all for your suggestions, but it seems to have been an overheating problem. I have dialed back the power of the processor and it seems to have solved the issue for now. I'll have to dig through the trash of fans to see if I have a CPU fan that will fit and toss in another case fan. Hopefully that will solve the problems.
