Hi everyone,

Long Story Short, I am very lucky to be in the position of awaiting all the shipments for a new build! You could call it a Performance Rig, if you like, as I am basically building a semi-hi-performance/Gaming computer but I don't game... so I can't really say I am building a gaming computer, but I believe many gamers would be very happy to have this build so anyway-

I had to order basically EVERYTHING, plus a few things. I had like 25+ items in my cart plus a few multiples etc. So it got broken up into MANY sub-shipments and I didn't even realize quite how many, no less than 10 separate shipment/packages. It just so happens the 2 most expensive items came together along with two other items.

So I open this package (one of 3 I received today) and it's got both my CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K and GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G ... also my HyperX SSD and TP-Link wireless adapter. Easily the most expensive box I will have coming to me... Here is my problems-

The GPU, wireless adapter, and SSD were all in pretty much perfect boxes and nicely wrapped in tight shrink-wrap. Unless some hardcore bamboozling is going on, they all look factory-fresh and brand new. THE CPU, HOWEVER, is in a quite-dented up and corner-crushed box, without any wrapping, and sort of looks like it could be used and/or abused. Also, I note on the physical CPU through the open-window of the box it is made in Vietnam .... I thought that they were made in Malaysia, as all the ones i've seen online say MALAY on them.

Am I totally off base here? Should I be worried? Does Intel wrap their CPUs and are they very fragile? Because I certainly don't want to take a used or abused chip from them. I am perhaps being overly sensitive but I haven't ordered an actual CPU since 2009 (An Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 to replace the stock CPU in my ASUS G50VT-X5) and it was in a OEM tray type package, flawless though. Any info or advice here would be nice... Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean when you ask how intel wraps their boxes. They are in a retail box; the merchant is the one that would be actually boxing it up for shipment. Have you actually tried it?
They have a facility in Vietnam yes.

I guess what I meant was, does Intel wrap the package they put the CPU in , ie the blue box, is it wrapped from the factory? I have Googled a bunch and it looks like they do not. There is a very small piece of tape on one side that says "INTEL FACTORY SEALED" which I guess is good. I have not yet tried it because it was actually the first shipment I received from ordering on Monday evening, I haven't received everything so I can't build yet. I guess I was over-reacting, but I think others might agree if they saw it ... pretty shoddy looking box (the blue Intel packaging box) with some crushed corners and loose sides, for nearly $350 you'd expect a bit more IMHO.

Anyway thanks for taking the time to reply.
