I have been having issues with my computer with my PC randomly hanging for a few seconds at a time. This has never happened before on my setup and I'm not sure exactly where to begin to track down the problem. Here is my setup.

CPU: AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad-Core Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670 1 GB
Motherboard: GA-970A-DS3
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
HDD: ST3500320AS
PSU: Rosewill RP600V2-S-SL
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
DVD/CD-ROM drive: hp DVD-RAM GH60L ATA device
Three fans including the heatsink

The OS has just been installed after I completely formatted the drive and updated the OS completely. The problem was present on install and has not changed since the updates. I have defragmented the disk recently along with run a disk check and sfc /scannow in CMD to check for corrupted files in Windows. I am not running any sort of overclocking software although I have overclocked in the past. I have ran a scan with the software Malware-Bytes along with Windows Defender and neither brought up any issues about viruses. I have recently updated my BIOS but the problem was present before anyhow. It seems to only happen when the computer is doing multiple things at once. Most parts are new except for the HDD and the PSU which are about two to three years old. How can I start to see what is the problem? I am at a loss here and I'm not sure how to fix this issue.

I would suggest you check the temperatures of your system and check if all the fans are running as they should. The system or one of its parts might be heating up when doing multiple things hence the freezing issue. Just run speccy program to check temperatures.

It could be that there might be a problem with the HDD. It might not show up during disk checking. Maybe its reading speed is slowing down.

Or you can try reinstalling windows again to be completely sure its not a problem with Windows files. Also double check if all the RAM is being detected and used by the system.
