Hi all,
Currently I have a 320GB HDD in my desktop PC and I am planning to add another 250GB. I am not replacing my current 320GB one with a single 500GB HDD because reinstalling games and stuff is a hassle. The only confusion in my mind is that when I will add the HDD, will the Windows create new partitions by itself? I am having only 2 partitions as of now and I am willing not to create more partitions, so is there any way to adjust/divide the 250GB space into existing partitions?
Thanks in advance :)

No, you can't merge partitions across drives.

Partitions only exist within 1 drive. When you add the new HDD it will come up as a new drive. So if you already have C: & D: allocated as partitions of HDD number 1, then when you add the new HDD it will allocate drive letter E: as the new drive.

So what if I want to merge that E partition with D? Can I?

You could probably raid 0 the drive, but i wouldn't. You said you're doing this for games, if you're using steam you can just go to settings downloads and add another library folder to your other drive. That way you can just have all future downloads go to the new drive.
