So I am planning on upgrading my Dell Inspiron 3847. I currently have a GeForce GT640 inside of it, and yes, I know it's an outdated GPU, that's why I'm upgrading. I am planning on putting a GeForce GTX 970 in it, but when I opened my computer up, It didn't look like there was enough room for a normal sized 970. So could I put in a mini ITX 970, and it still work? Or do I have enough room for the original and I'm just being silly? Help on this would be highly appreciated, thank you.

Can you measure distance from back panel till hard drive cage, or first obstacle in line of PCIE card?

This is your case, so distance to hard drive cage, is it more than 9.5 inches?

By the way, you will need new PSU for this, you have about 300 watt one.

So far I was able to find 9.5 in and 8.1 in GTX 970 cards.

9.5 in EVGA
8.03 in ZOTAC and size reference

PSU needed is 500 watt with 2 x 6-Pin power connectors, card itself uses about 145 watt.
