Question about Intel's Migration Software and Cloning the OS

So I've been using a 1 TB HDD for the entire duration of owning my PC, and I just recently bought a 120 GB Intel 535 Series SSD to put my OS on. I was running Windows 7 64-bit on my HDD, but went along with the free upgrade to Windows 10. I now want to clone my HDD to my SSD using Intel's Migration Software, but only after drastically reducing its contents to fit. I've preserved everything I want to save on an external HDD.

My first question is, how would I go about wiping everything that's left on my original HDD except the OS?

And second, is it even possible to clone my OS using Intel's software?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know about intel's migration software, but it's the only one i haven't tried - but all the other OEM mfgr's migration software, for whatever reason, are fairly slow in cloning. Windows backup utility is similiarly slow - 4-8 hours for 177 GB clone.

acronis has a good name but i had it fail me with corrupted backups twice - i've been using EaseUS ToDo Backup (i know, a hokey name) since 2008 and their free version much less, without a hitch ( http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm ). Cloning 177 GB thru a USB 3.0 port ran 1.5 hours. Now i clone direct from sata to sata connection and clone time runs 28-30 minutes.

The interface is super user friendly / intuitive - if you try it you'll like it, but be sure to choose to "clone" and not backup, and to select the "sector by sector" option - when i don't or forget to, if i go to boot off the cloned drive, i have to use the windows dvd to "repair" the boot files - sector by sector, no problem booting.

and you can clone just the partition you want, ie the OS partition (usually the C partition) if you want.

I clone my entire drive every week, and if a malware or virus takes over the computer, rather than spend hours researching and eliminating it, i just clone the cloned drive back to the computer's drive and overwrite any malware etc on it.
