Hello, I am building a PC and have run into some trouble. I used PC partpicker and it said all my parts were compatible. OK so I ordered them and have put my PC together. However, it is not booting up and displaying anything on the monitor.. After a couple minutes my computer will just shut off. I checked PC partpicker to find that it said this : " Some AMD A78 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs." My motherboard is - Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
I have an AMD Athlon X4 860k processor
G.Skill RipJaws 8gb Ram
Corsair 450w power supply
EVGA GeForce 750ti FTW graphics card

Now I have no idea how to update my Bios when my computer will not even boot up and I do not even have OS. Please help I feel like I wasted my money haha. Anyways, Thanks in advance.
Derek

You need a compatible cpu to get it to POST and to get into the bios to update it. You need another pc to download the bios file and put it on a USB. You then plug the USB onto your new pc and boot into the bios and update it from there.
Or just return it and buy another motherboard that won't require a BIOS update.
But you shouldn't need to update it, generally, it has a recent bios that will be compatible with the 860k.
What is the revision on the motherboard?

I am new to PC building and BIOS. How do I get into the BIOS? When I plug my PC into a monitor nothing even appears onto the display. When you say compatible PC do you mean compatible with the components of my PC build?

I meant cpu. One thing are you plugging the monitor to the gprahic card? The 860K does not have any integrated graphics so there will be no display from the motherboard' display outputs.

Yes, I tried plugging in dvi and hdmi and nothing appeared. So do I need to buy another CPU just to update my bios? would it make more sense to just keep that CPU?
