Hi,
So I just recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 from best buy.

Here is the link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i7-12gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-silver/4202001.p?id=1219706550514&skuId=4202001

I am having issues with the 3.0 port not working with my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB
Here is the link of the HardDrive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148616

I have used this ehd with other 3.0 laptops and it works fine.

I thought it must be the computer itself and exchanged it with another one. And the other laptop has this problem as well.
When I use the 2.0 port with my ehd, it works fine.
Oh and other drives with 2.0 work fine in the 3.0 ports of the laptop.

Please, if anyone knows what the problem maybe please let me know.

Thanks for your response D_Know_WD.

I did update the usb drivers (BIOS and Chipset) before with no luck.

Also just the other day I asked a friend if I can try out his 3.0 usb flashdrive and it worked just fine in the 3.0 port on the computer.

So I am thinking it has to be something with the ehd. I did uninstall the drivers on it but when I hook up the ehd it doesn't install the driver, it just automatically opens the folder.

The thing is, the ehd works fine on my other laptop with 3.0 port. That laptop has windows 8 and I have windows 10 if that matters. Maybe my ehd is not compatible some how to my laptop.

So to make it clear, you've tried: Uninstalling the drive in Device Manager -> unplug -> reinstall USB 3.0 drivers from the website -> reboot -> plug back in?

That is strange. How does the HDD appear under Device Manager? Does it have some kind of yellow exclamation mark next to it when attached to the USB 3.0 port?
Still, I think this is some sort of a driver related issue(not a compatibility one). Have you tried to attach the drive when you are using Win 8.1? If you haven't, you can try that.
