Hi,

Here are my system specs:
Gigabyte GA990FXA UD5
AMD FX-8350
Noctua NH-D15
Gigabyte Windforce R9 280X
EVGA Supernova G2 850W
Crucial MX100 256GB SSD
Hitachi Deskstar 2TB SATA 3 HD
Kingston Hyper-X Savage 8GB 1600MHz
Fractal Design Define R5

I have been able to overclock my 8350 up to 4.7GHz on 1.5V and I have heard that to get past this you can overclock the bus which in turn increases CPU, RAM clocks etc. Should I be doing this to get past 4.7GHz or not?

Solution
You should be using amd overdrive for temps while running a prime95 blend test - I would personally want 10c+ while stress testing.

While a fsb overclock can push a few extra 100mhz without increasing voltage it will overclock the ram.

Kingston hyperx is not well known for running past its rated speed - I would drop it down to 1333mhz before you attempt any fsb overclocks to ensure stability.

& don't go mad in one hit with the fsb ,increase it a max of 2 each time before rebooting & testing.
Every increase of 4 on the fsb will gain you just under 100mhz on the CPU clock - its a time consuming process compared to straight multiplier over clocking
