I can't seem to find any information on this as it may be a rare occurrence. GTA 5 used to take up about 3.3GB of VRAM(on win 8.1) and now uses approximately 4.6GB of VRAM. Assassins Creed unity used to use 3.6 and now uses around 5.8GB of VRAM. However, far cry 4 used to use 3.3 and still uses 3.3. Any one else experiencing something similar? Is this a windows 10, GPU or driver issue? Game play and frame rate seems to be completely unaffected so i am going to assume something is just causing erroneous VRAM readings. Also when i exit the game the reading returns to a fairly normal 300~500mb of VRAM usage. I used GPU Z and Msi afterburner to measure the VRAM. (GPU-Z reports -439229019999GB in game while After burner says 4.6GB in GTA 5)

This is happening on driver 353.62 with SLI 970s and a 4690k.

I have noticed this as well. I recently built a new rig and was benchmarking it and there i noticed that MSI AB was showing more consumption of VRAM than the actual hardware VRAM on my G-card.

Like when i was playing\testing shadow of mordor, my VRAM consumption on GTX 980 Ti went to 6402 MB instead of 6144 MB max. Also i noticed no FPS drops or stuttering, so somewhat puzzled to see this.

One of the much touted aspects of DX12 is that it allows for shared memory when using multiple cards, and as its included with W10 I'd point the finger at that.

However, to my knowledge the game needs to be designed around DX12 before seeing this benefit. It could be that the Nvidia driver, and as such SLI profiles, are making use of them in that way but someone more knowledgeable than myself would need to give a definitive answer.

Yea the game has to be designed for it...even so on GTA 5 i have the dx11 API selected so even if it were designed for dx12 i wouldn't be using it. Surprised no one else is experiencing this.
