what azca said. if you want to prolong the life of you're build, high grade parts will be of great assistance, so, you would need to go with an i7.

2500k and 2600k came out 4.5 years ago and is hardly crap. top of the line cpu performance has not seen the strides it used to. now its about graphics cards and pocket sized performance.
