Hello, I recently got to pc gaming and wanted to build my first pc after being a console gamer for a while now. My budget is around $550, no monitor, keyboard, mouse , nor windows included. So can you please choose the specs for me around that budget? Thanks!
EDIT: I really want a good gpu and an intel cpu please (preferably NVIDIA)

Solution
$10 more would get you a R9 380 that's a little faster than the GTX960

yes, go with the 380, and personally i would've gone with the fx 6300, but the i3 is still a good alternative.

Change the gpu to the 380 as suggested. Even if you find the 960 with 4 GB at the seams are similar price the 380 will be slightly faster and due to the wider interface would be able to better use the memory.

not every game, and the i3 is still a dual core. also i think overclocking is a benefit, and not only for the performance boost (which is not always noteworthy) but also for the joy :) and directx 12 is able to use up to 6 threads (from what i read) but i know the i3 uses less power and has a significantly higher single threaded performance.

A successfully overclocked FX6300 system will cost a good bit more than an i3 build.

As for the i3 being better in everything over the 6300 that's not entirely true.

Ok fair enough. There are probably 1 or 2 games out there that the FX6300 performs better in. I officially retract my previous statement, and will issue a new one now. :)

The i3 outperforms the FX6300 in ALMOST every game. lol
