Is my low FPS due to CPU or GPU

Lots of my news games on PC are not getting to 60 fps.

There's some small stutters in game like state of decay, but lots of FPS drops in
Mortal Kombat X
WWE 2k15

It seems my rig isn't capable of running these games very well.

How can I identify whether my CPU or GPU is causing the issues with the games, and see which needs to be upgraded for a better gaming experience.

I'm currently using a
r7 260x GPU
amd x4 760 CPU

Run benchmarks and compare to standards. If you tell us your system, we can probably identify where your limits are from our experience.

Also list your full setup and what games you are playing and we can tell you what area to upgrade or even if its worth upgrading

For that use i recommend msi afterburner, it can display all that info that you want while ingame.

More accurately, what games are you playing? What settings are you using? What resolution are you playing at?

Instead of turning down details try simply backing down the resolution to 720 if you are currently playing at 1080P

For modern games, both need to be upgraded. What games and where, in particular are you noticing problems. In general, the GPU is the limit in most gaming systems. For CPU intensive games, your system will be limited. Have you overclocked the CPU, and if so, to what frequency?

Nothing needs to be upgraded at all. The settings just need to be adjusted accordingly.

That's certainly another way of looking at it spentshells. Running at lower settings will allow 60fps, but will the quality of the experience be good enough?

As you rightly say, if you lower the settings enough, most computers can read 60fps.

MKX can be tricky to get playing smoothly. Anything under 60 fps is a joke and makes the game choppy and stupid.
