Hello all!
I'm currently owning 2 EVGA 680 SC Signatures, and because one of them is slowly dying, and the other one is starting too, I think I need replacement.

So it's time for a new GPU, but I'm not very sure which one to get, because I'm not too familiar with the new 300 series and the 900 series. What I'm searching is at least similar performance, but I'd like to get just a little more. I'm using a 1080p monitor and like to game at high settings for 1080p. What I currently have in mind is either the MSi 390X Gaming GT, or the EVGA 970 SSC, or FTW(+). I'm aiming for silent PC gaming, so I was leaning a bit towards the 970. However, because the 390X has 8GB Vram, and is future proof I am not sure which one to choose.

So in short: New card to replace 680's, need similar performance or better, which card, my own ideas: 390X or 970.

Thanks!

at 1080p I cannot think of any way to use all 8GB of VRAM. Frankly a R9 280X can max just about every game at 1080p wih only 3 GB of VRAM, so the 970 is the best bet for this scenario. while a few games may force you to use high instead of ultra due to heir silly AM demands, almost every other game out there will run fine. You will have lower FPS in some games compared to the 680 SLI, but in most the extra VRAM will help.
