Do the pcie 6 to 8 pin power adapters work well?

My PSU has one six and one eight pin pcie power cable. The r9 280x I bought requires two 8 pin cables. Will a six to eight pin adapter work well?

My reading shows that it comes with both a 6 and a 6+2 pin power lead.
You smoosh the 6+2 parts together and plug int the 8 pin port on the graphics card.

If by chance your unit is very old, it will be of sufficient power and quality to use a molex to 8 pin graphics power adapter.

The discontinued version of the S12II-620Bronze has one 6-pin and one (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

The newest revision of the S12II-620Bronze has two (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

The M12II-620 Bronze EVO Edition, which uses the same underlying platform as the S12II-620Bronze, comes with four (6+2)-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors. They both have the same +12 Volt continuous current rating.
