Computer:
MB: P7H55-M Pro
Bios version: 1709
ChipSet: Intel Core i3 540 (clarkdale socket 1156 LGA)
OS: Win7 64 bit Home Premium (Sp 1)

Problem:
The 2x4GB ram will not allow for boot up past ASUS screen with memory remapping turned on. If it's turned off, I can enter into Windows, but it only shows 3.5 GB usable, and 8 GB installed. The Bios only recognizes approx. 3.2 GB.

Inital Procedures that do not work (with remapping on):
1) overclocking at all available freq
2) DRAm freq at 1600, 1333, and 1066
3) all permuations resulting from the options available from (1) and (2).
4) all combinations that result from the DIMM slot orientations (A1 and B1 is preferred)
5) adjusting voltage to 1.6V (1.65 not available)
6) Contact Asus customer service (3 hrs - FML) - said this ram should work and we went through all the above...

I'll admit my win7 is not official, but I can't figure out how to test that it is truley 64bit. However, the fact that the BIOS can't handle more than 4 gigs is puzzling. Shouldn't it be OS independant, any thoughts? This is my first post.

Those are the preset auto values, well except for 1.55V, I don't have 0.05V resolution in the BIOS settings. However, forcing these values does not resolve the issue. Just to clarify, the only way to get into the BIOS is with my old 2x2GB ram installed, or with the new 2x4GB ram installed (having already turned mem remap off). I adjusted the settings with remap off and still the BIOS only sees approx 3GB. Turning remap on, prevents access to the BIOS whilst using the 8GB ram.

I strongly feel this ram is simply not compatible. I can return it to the store, so do you know of anything within 70$ range or less that has a 2x4GB architecture that WILL work? The QVL for this motherboard does not have a 2x4GB tested arrangement, only 4x2GB, but I want 8GB dual channel.

Some manufactures state that product (blah) is compatible, but I'm not convinced of that because I feel it may be based off specs, not actually testing it. These products would have to be ordered online because the store I purchased the ram from does not carry anything at all that is "approved" by either ASUS or the memory manufacturer. FML, all I wanted was to double my ram on a quite friday night...it's now sat night.

Thanks for the quick reply.
