I Need Help!

Im new to pc gaming and came from Console gaming and I have noticed that Many Games require me to höst my own dedicated server!! Why is this and is there Any say to come around it? When i played Minecraft on PS4 i just booted up and invited My friends, but on PC i have to play for realms just to play with My friends!!! Or i have to host My own server and download different things and change things with My router plz helpppp!?!?!?

For Minecraft there are many servers you can play on that someone elses hosts, these range from massive 30000 player servers, to smaller 20 player servers, that can be found on minecraft server list websites.

But i do not want to join a other peoples servers, i want to start up a game and invite my FRIENDS without having to make changes to ip adresses or pay for realms and the same with gmod whyyyyyyyyy????
