Hi All,

I am building a simple home lab server. Here are my components:

Asus A88XM Motherboard:
2X8GB Corsair DDR3 1600 MHz (CMZ16GX3M2A 1600C10)
AMD A8-7600 CPU
Bios Ver. 2204
No changes to default Bios settings.

Here is my problem.

When I install both RAM modules in Channel A the Motherboard doesn't post and I get a black screen.

When I install one Module in channel A and one in Channel B it boots but only recognizes 8GB.

I also tried both in channel B and would not post.

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks,

Moshe

You make no mention of your OS I am going to assume w8.1 64 bit (since your using more than 8 gigs :) ) You should flash your bios to 2402, they made some memory improvements. Also see if your memory is listed here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/A88XMA/HelpDesk_QVL/ . Another suggestion that board should boot no matter the ram slot albeit it might be a little slower in the wrong channel, does it have the mem ok button ? I didn't check the manual to see if it does run it, also in the UEFI try setting the bios to extreme and leave EVERYTHING alone. Try 4 sticks of 2 gig......
AMD A8-7600 APU supported memory is DDR3-2133MHz.

I would put the memory in the black slots. If it only runs with one then just use one.

In the BIOS
see Section 2.5.1- Set AI Overclock Tuner to [Manual].
Section 2.5.2 - Set Memory Frequency to [DDR3-1600MHz].

Try adding the other DIMM to Black Slot.

I would recommend running MemTest86+. Run at least seven passes. Any errors, replace the memory.
http://www.memtest.org/

I would also recommend using DDR3-2100MHz memory and not DDR3-1600MHz.

Hi

Sorry for the long answer time.

I tried what was suggested and tested both memory modules and both had no errors.work.

What I did notice was that the motherboard seems to identify both memory modules and sees that each is 8GB but still only registers 8GB of memory.
