help noob upgrade a 12gb ps3 ultra slim

hi please help I have been a this for hours without a solid answer or instruction I would like to free up about 40mb of memory on my new ps3 ultra slim is there way to get rid of some things on the system s I will use it for just one game and just about nothing else probably not but worth asking, I also have an old lap top with a TOSHIBA MQ01ABD075 (SATA) hdd in it can I use this to upgrade the system? again I am a noob at things like this help would be very appreciated

You can either uninstall other games on your ps3 to free up space or you can install a bigger HDD in your ps3. Any will work as long as the size is 2.5" (laptop size). And if you need help, there are plenty of tutorials out there for replacing a ps3 HDD.

my ps3 is almost clean just the system update so there's nothing to clear off unless there is a way to get rid of features, I have tried what all the videos say to do but when I turn the system on it does not come up with the option to erace and format hdd it just stays on the flash mem

You can try formatting the drive on the computer, or try formatting it in safe mode on the ps3
