Hey guys and gals,

I have just finished building my first PC on my own, in the past my friends pretty much built it for me. I am having trouble getting some of my case fans to work as well as getting a display.

When I power on my system, the heatsink works, LED's and Fans operational, as well as the rear stock case fan. However, the two stock fans on the front of the case and both fans I purchased, one on the side and one on top, do not. I also can't get the USB ports to work, doesn't pick up my keyboard or mouse. :/

Two questions I have, which may be responsible for some of the issues are:

1. Are you required to plug in the peripheral cable into the power supply and attach the case fans? Or can you just connect the case fans to the motherboard? (I thought you could just connect them straight to the motherboard.)
- side note, the case fans are 3pin and I connected them to the CHA_Fan ports on the motherbords which are 4 pin (not sure if that would cause an issue, read 4pin is compatible with 3)

2. When connecting and hdmi from your monitor to you computer trying to get a display, do you connect it to the graphics card or the motherboard hdmi slot? (Again, I figured it was the graphics card.)

System Components:
-Coolermaster Storm Scout 2 Advanced
-Intel 4790K processer
-Coolermaster V8 GTS Heatsink
- Asus sabertooth z97 motherboard
- 2400 16GB RAMM
- EVGA GTX 970 graphics card
-Samsung 850 Evo SSD (500gb)
-750W power supply

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!
I can't wait to get this up and running! :)

1. Yes, 3 and 4 pin fans/ fan headers are backwards compatible. So even after you plugged in the fans to the motherboard, they don't work?
2. Make sure that anything that came with the case is plugged in.
3. I don't think the USB ports will work if you can't get a display :p
4. Yes, the monitor should be plugged into the GPU.

Please follow the link I sent you to the letter.

Solution
Hi,
Mark 1 or Mark 2 (motherboard)?
Try unplugging all wires from the board, but the 24, 8 pin power cables and the case power switch. Remove the graphics card and connect the monitor to the onboard. Start the board and see if still no display.
