Difference between Intel core iseries and xeon series?

Solution
it depends on the xeon and i series as mentioned about. xeon's based on the 1150 and 2011 v3 sockets are effectively i7's usually without integrated gpu's (some xeon's do have igpu's), limited a ability to overclock as you can get a k series i5 or i7.

xeon's come in more socket options than i series chips. I would say that 1150 and 2011v3 based xeons can be used as everyday PC's, whilst all the other socket based xeons are for servers. From a price to performance point of view, some 1150 based xeons are better value than i5's and i7's hips
