Hi,

My computer info is in my signature. The PC works fine, but the on-board sound was a little 'muffled' and there is a little bit of noise interference when I play some games or especially when I run things like Unigine Valley.

I bought a Sound Blaster Zx, and have put it in PCIE slot 1. I started PC and ran install software but it does not install and says 'setup is unable to detect a supported product'. I went to the UEFI and chose the option to look at what was in each slot. Everything was showing as normal but PCIE1 was showing empty even though the sound card is plugged in to the motherboard.

As my graphics card is massive and uses 3 slots width, I can not access PCIE3.

How to I get the motherboard to see the soundcard please, is there some sort of setting I need to switch on?. The red LED light on the Sound Blaster is on by the way. .

I have an M.2 SSD in the M.2 Ultra slot, is this causing problems?

The BIOS version is P1.30.

OS is Windows 8.1 (all up to date)

After reading another thread I powered the machine down (unlugged it) for over 30mins and then plugged it back in and switched on. Still not detecting it though.

Here is an image of the Sound Card:-

And here is a picture of where I have the relevant devices plugged in:-

Thank you for the reply, I knew when I bought the M.2 drive that it would make my graphics card run at x8 mode. I read a couple of reviews and it made no difference to performance of the graphics card.

That leaves x4 lanes for the M.2. That should also leave 4 lanes spare, so there should be no problem with the PCIE1 slot which should still run at x1? I think, or have I missed something?

I have also tried taking the sound card out, disabling the onboard sound from the UEFI, and then reinstalling the sound card but made no difference, then tried changing the onboard sound to 'auto' and reinstalling. This made no difference, the PCEI1 slot is not detecting the card. It it pushed in fully and properly flush. (I've built several PC's over the last 20 years and have never had a problem with not pushing a module in correctly).

At this stage I have ran out of things to try.

Please give any suggestions you have, in the mean time I have emailed the support departments of both Asrock and Creative. Will update with how they help or not. Completed both the support forms about 10 minutes ago (about 18:50pm 9/Aug/2015).

Fixed it, just shoved it in the very bottom PICE slot and it's fine. loads better and certainly no more interference noise which was the main reason for getting it. Asrock need to work on their onboard sound shielding.
