Hello, my current build is :

i5 4670K
MSI Z87 G-45 Motherboard
GTX 770 Windforce
8 GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical (2x 4GB)
SeaSonic M12II EVO 620

I'm looking to upgrade this build. I've got quite some budget, ofcourse i don't want to spend more than necessary. Important to note is that i'm not a huge gamer by any means, my intrests lie in developing. This means i spend alot of time in Unreal 5, Unity and Maya. (3 monitors, alot of tabs open) Currently, my pc rusn the applications not as smooth as i'd like.

So i was thinking of getting the following :

1. An SSD.
2. 16 GB's of RAM.
3. A GTX 980 TI.

However, i think that in my case, i would actually benefit from getting an i7 processor.

So in theory, i could also go for a new X99 Motherboard, get a decent i7 to go along with that (i.e the 5820K) Get DDR4 Ram and an SSD. Then i save an amount of money each month, and go with one of those new Nvidia models once they come out somewhere next year. From what i've read, they will be a huge improvement over the current models.

So what do you think is the smartest thing to do in my case? I would really appreciate your opinion on this.

Thanks :)

Solution
The 5820k and DDR4 RAM would be great if you want a complete system overhaul, or you could take the easy road and get an i7 4790k and more RAM. Just make sure your board's BIOS is up to date first.

Alright! If i were to go with the 5820K, do you think my 770 will be able to hold its own for another year? If Pascal we're to come out later than Q2 2016 i'd be sad.
