Older computer having trouble using new modem/router

So we just got a new modem at my house and since then my parents have been having trouble using it on their older laptops. They can connect to it but not load any webpages. MY belief is that the router uses wifi-n, although i don't know how to confirm that, and their computers are wifi-g. If this is the case, then does anyone know the fix? Do I need an adapter? Or could this not be the problem at all? Our modem/router is the hitron cgnm-2250

You have to go into the router settings, and see what the WiFi mode is set to.

Yeah it's on 802.11(b/g/n) mode.

Yeah they have are connected and have full bars, they just can't USE it

None, just whenever we try to load a webpage it says its having trouble connecting.
