window 7 will not start after installing ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ?

Installed new ASUS board with 8g of ram, unit starts, I can get to the BIOS fine and make changes, then when win 7 starts, it goes past the logo then shuts down. What am I doing wrong?

Which mobo did you upgrade from? what is the bios state UEFI or Standard?

I upgraded from a Pentium 4 3.4 mhz with 4gb of RAM

You should go into the bIOs settings of this motherboard and turn from UEFI to Legacy in the bootmode and see!

You're using the old windows install onbypur old hard disk??

If so ,you cant do this ,you need to do a completely fresh install.
