Hey,

I've got a Samsung TV plugged into my Radeon HD 6950 via HDMI, I use the TV as a monitor at the moment. In the past I've been able to change my sound output default device to the TV to get sound out of my TV speakers rather than through my cheap USB headphones. Recently it stopped working, possibly after the graphics card update?

I can't say for sure when it started but now I can't get sound out of my TV, but sound will still come out of my headphones when they are the default audio device.

I've tried all the usual restarting PC and the TV, checking and double checking the default device is set to the TV, of course checking the TV sound itself making sure it's not muted or the volume isn't too low but all of that is fine.. My only theory is that this started when I updated the graphics card driver recently, since the TV is going through HDMI on the graphics card, could this be the cause? I haven't tried the previous version of graphics card update because I can't find where they are on the AMD website, are they actually on there??

does anyone have any idea what may be causing this problem?

One thing to try is make sure you have your TV turned on before you turn your computer on. HDMI handshakes are a pain in my ass ever since I started using a HTPC, as the computer often seems to lose track of the fact that there is an audio device hooked up to the HDMI cable in addition to the video, so the HDMI won't show up on the device list. Recently I wind up having to reboot the computer with all the other devices turned on to get that HDMI audio device to show up on the list.

The device does show up on the list, but I'll try that. If it works I'll set that as the solution, if not then would love more ideas if people have them..
