Which is better triple gtx 980 sli or triple gtx titan x sli

I currently have a double gtx titan sli and I wanted to buy a third titan x to do triple sli but my friend said triple gtx980 ti is better than triple Titan ski and I searched to see I'd that is true but I can't find any proof Please help me clarify this

You have titan x? They are going to be very close, either way. Are you under water and are able to overclock your titans?

EDIT: I think if you were starting from scratch, the 3x sli 980 ti would be the no brainer just because of cost, unless you really needed the 12GB vram for other needs.

Honestly, the titanx will still win out, especially if you are overclocked...but the 980 ti's are still very close. Stick with what ya got and do another titanx if you want, it will help in 4K.

lol yeah but will be good...I mean you could sell your two titanx and then get 3 980 TI's for less money and close to same performance but titanx will still win out if you're already under water, just add another...less pain for you, cause you'd have to get blocks for all 3 TI's and it'd probably end up being close to same price.
