Cpu temp is kind of high when idle then gets very hot when gaming

So I built my computer last week and it was doing fine but today I noticed it is getting pretty hot when playing games. For example when I'm playing cs:go the temp goes to around 70-78 or when I play bf3 65-70c. I am using a fx6300 cpu with the stock cooler and a MSI 970 gaming mobo, and for the case I have a corsair spec 01 with 2 front intake fans and 1 rear out-take fan. When Idle (only thing pulled up is chrome) AMD Overdrive is saying my cpu temp is 43-46c.

Thanks in advance for the help <3

Solution
That doesn't sound all that unusual for summer time computing with a stock cooler. You won't actually do any damage until the CPU is up around 100C or so, so you are not at risk of any harm. The stock cooler is not all that strong, so especially if you have an overclock that involves higher vcore it's worth investing in a stronger aftermarket cooler.

AMD Overdrive provides thermal margins, not temperatures. Idle isn't important; if the thermal margins at full load are 10°C or higher, then you don't have an issue. If they get very close to 0°C, then the CPU will throttle and you'll need to buy a better cooler.

I fitted a cooler, or rather re fitted a poorly mounted cooler a week back and got a 25c reduction from idle to stress test. My idle temps are now mid 20's up to 71c on stress. I was getting high 90c. Air coolers are not expensive, here in the UK you can get a decent one for £20. They are quite easy to fit even for a novice like me, make sure not to unseat your RAM like I did though.
