So I want to build a Gaming PC that can run games like Witcher 3 on high or maximum settings without any problem. Here is my list of components.

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K - $339.99
Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO LGA 1150 Intel Z97 - $209.99
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB - $105.24
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 - $339.99
Storage: Seagate 1TB Desktop HDD - $62.99
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2 80+ Gold - $167.54
Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H60 - $72.18
Case: Sentey® Gaming Computer Case Gs-6011 - $59.99

Is this overkill? Can someone help me bring the price down?

You're probably fine with an i5 (so most people tend to say). The i7 CPU, if you are near a Microcenter, may still be 280$ or something which should work out to be about 308 after tax or something, for an in-store pick up. BestBuy or Staples MIGHT price match that deal. Thats about what I paid for that chip though.

Big question is are you planning to OC your CPU? If not, then you don't need an unlocked CPU, nor a liquid cooler, and then the MOBO is probably more than you need as well. If you're really looking to drop the price, you can consider some open box deals as well. that could knock a few bucks off each part (ie: the GPU can be snagged for 20-50$ less via microcenter amazon etc).

can you be specifically.. what is your budget...
and what are you gonna use it... i mean if for gaming youll just need a core i5 processor and if for editing and other stuff so ill considering taking core i7.
8gb ram and evga 600w psu is fine...
water cooling is good if you were thinking to overclock..

TAKE INTEL 6TH GEN PROCESSORS :D.. they will be available in 8/9/2015 as i think.

I just want it for gaming. Is the new 6th-gen Intel Core i5-6000 gonna be really expensive?

core i5-6600k will cost $243.00.. and the mobo is around 120$... so its a great value and the mobo will last you 4-5 years once it has a new socket LGA 1151.. so you can upgrade in future with only a BIOS upgrade :D..

CORE I5-6600K ($243.00)
Gigabyte LGA 1151 Z170 2-Way SLI ($140.00)
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB Kit (4GBx2) DDR4 2400 ($57.00)
Kingston Digital 120GB ($47.99)
WD Blue 1TB Desktop 3.5 Inch SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm Internal Hard Drive ($49.99)
MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G Graphics Cards ($399.99)
WINDOWS 8.1 ($89.99)
TOTAL : $1029.96

i still don't know what is your budget.. but this build has a great choices in future and supports DDR4 ram...

good luck.

That would work if it would allow you to get the GTX 980 witcher 3 kills video cards.
Skip the CX series look at the EVGA GS, G2, Seasonic or XFX.

gtx 970 is more than enough... and the different between gtx 970 and 980 is about 7-9 fps so its really doesnt worth... but if you have a money to spend... so go ahead :D

remember the best GPU for the money and for 1080P is GTX 970.
