Can't get into bios

I've recently purchased a Asus h61m-k motherboard. I've installed it and hooked everything on, so far so good (everything seemed to fit and function).

When I tried to start the system I couldn't get into the bios. This while I plugged my keyboard into the ps/2 port, I tried changing the ports and found out the usb ports didn't work (this while the vga functioned properly). I've tried fixing this by performing a cmos reset in every possible way without any results. So I dicided to try the usb 2.0 ports in my front panel. When I started the system my num lock light lit up so I felt hopeful, yet when I tried pressing f2 or del to enter bios the system didn't react and shut down later. I've tried it a few more times without results but I found out I could turn num lock on/off (strangely enough).

I'm getting kind of desperate now, I've tried every possible hardware setup and every cmoss reset but I can't fix this problem, anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
