RAM is getting cheaper and cheaper, so before it goes up, I want to grab some more!
Currently have Corsair 2Gb PC3-10666 TwinX (2 x 1GB) which I understand cannot be matched to other supplies, so It must go!
Been here before with a similar question but by the time I was confident that the new RAM would work, the offer had expired! :pfff:

I'm now looking at replacing it with :- HyperX 8GB (2 X 4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM, currently on offer at 29.99 (UK Pounds).

Don't know anything about "memory speed" and need to know if this would operate OK in my Board.
Board Max Bus speed is 1600 MHz, so I'm wondering if this RAM would automatically adjust to that and if my machine would recognise it on boot.
Can anyone advise me please?

Solution
First what's the model of the DRAM? Most all new Kingston DRAM is made with high density memory chips and won't work on a 775 mobo. Next contrary to the above, the DRAM will go to the mobos default of 1333, it won't automatically go to 1600. Next are you OCing at all? to even run 1600 you will need to have raised the FSB to 1600 (don't know what CPU, but it will prob OC the CPU also (unless already at 1600) so will want a good cooler on the CPU. Best bet may be something like 2x4GB of the GSkill NT sticks, which use the low density memory chips,

Thanks guys, since posting for advice on the HyperX modules, the offer ended and the price is once more beyond what I can justify.
Not sure what has happened but I posted a further request for compatibility advice for the following modules for the same computer but it has disappeared into the ether!

To re-cap, my system currently comprises :-
MoBo: P5Q3 Deluxe/WiFi-AP @n
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3GHz
Currently installed RAM:- Corsair 2 x 1GB
Graphics Card:- NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT

The RAM sticks I'm currently eyeing are:-
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit Black

To my untrained eye, they seem to closely resemble the existing, and I wonder if you clever guys can tell me two things:-
1) Can I just swap exiting for these?
2) Is it possible , and indeed is there any advantage to re-fitting the existing modules in the second pair of slots?

Hope these details might help in answering my query, and thanks for helping!
