I'm working on a build for my brother. He has recently repented from his Console ways, and now wants to build a PC. He has a budget of only 500 bucks, more or less. I've come up with this much already:

As for the power supply, this is what I came up with:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGHKK7M/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00DGHKK7M&linkCode=as2&tag=pcbuonabu-20&linkId=JHFACKH566NMZG25

What I don't need: Operating system, Monitor, external hard drives, Optical Drive.

What I may need: CPU cooler. Is that necessary for the build?

Is there any way to cut costs or improve the build? What is your opinion of the parts chosen? What parts would you suggest?

450W is a little low for a R9 270 which I believe recommends 500W psus. I would recommend the 500-550W seasonic PSUs, however the 620W was cheaper than those other ones.

I recommend looking for yourself on google the benchmarks of the i3 vs the FX6300/6350. The i3 wins most because games want strong single core performance, rarely do they need strong multi threaded performance.
Here you go, here are the updates:

1. Newer CPU and mobo.
2. Powerful PSU (never cheap out on a PSU EVER).
3. Case. I like the N200, it's sturdy and a very reliable case. However cases are personal preference, if you like the other case then go for that one then.

Do you want newegg only? If so then I need to change some stuff around.

I understand your aversion to the AMD CPU, but the Dual-core isn't really competition with 6 cores at 3.5 gighz. I suppose it comes with it's own cooler, which may be what you were intending. IDK

As for the power supply, it was a pretty good one, 80+ Broze too. Just a more reasonable 450 watt. But if you think that's the best option, then I trust you.
