I'm wanting a mobile powerhouse for VFX work and some gaming. How does this look?

That laptop should be able to handle the tasks that you have listed but I would try and get the quadrino or firepro equivalent as these have specialised drivers for this. I don't know what gpu cinema 4d is optimised for.

Also if anyone knows, is this software free as I am looking for a 3d package that I can make 3d models in which doesn't require much gpu power. I am talking about simple models with about 5000 - 10000 polygons at most.

Have you looked into Blender? I don't use it but I know it's an incredibly powerful free 3D program.
