CPU upgrade ?? For gaming..

Hi guys ,

I have a amd phenom ii x4 955 rb-c3 version processor running @3.68ghz
And a gtx 750ti 2gb card. Is it worth upgrading to a fx 6300 ? Or the phenom x4 @3.68ghz runs requivalent to fx6300?? Any suggestions??

I would say it is not worth the upgrade at all, they are pretty similar performance wise and you would have to upgrade the motherboard as well.

the best thing to do would be to get a pentium G3258, then you can OC, and you can upgrade to an i5 or even i7 later since you're on LGA1150.

even then the 955 is better in many respects to the g3258.

Even then, he's gonna want an LGA 1150 socket later, and you can OC the G3258 to perform just as well, at a lower temp.

Is it worth to go back to a dual core pentium g3258 ? Or should I overclock the 955 further ? Right now its running @ 3.7ghz from stock 3.2ghz

personally i would overclock the 955 further for now and see if it suits your needs, unless you are on a stock cooler, then dont do that lol

I had both a Phenom II X4 980 BE @ 4.1 Ghz and an FX-6300 @ 4.5 Ghz. If you can get a better OC out of your X4 955 there really isn't any reason to go with the FX. The only good upgrade would be an Intel i5 Haswell of some sort (which is what I did).
