I've grown attached to my stock toshiba satellite L775D-S3750. i'm sure most of you scoff at that statement, but it's the truth. i spent 190$ on the machine used, i've scanned crucial.com for a potential 100$ 8 gig RAM DDR3 PC3-14900 and a 380$ crucial MX200 1TB solid state drive. I am a gamer, I have not played much newer than mass effect two however. as is, the machine will not run skyrim correctly on its lowest settings. should i install those upgrades, or get something new? the computer cannot upgrade GPU. thanks

Solution
I would buy a new laptop as you can't play skyrim with the gpu you have at the moment. SSD and ram doesn't improve fps by that much as the gpu does.

Upgrading RAM and/or SSD won't be useful if you can barely run games to begin with, IMO. As an extreme, think it as trying to attach an 18-wheeler cargo to an electric motorbike; what's the use of having so much space when you can't make use of it correctly?
By what I found, it looks like you're on an APU, and a pretty bad one at that too, so this definetly applies. Skyrim could run tho, with the unofficial patch packs installed and hi-algo boost; you should try that out.

As a side note, you're actually lucky you still own the laptop. I've seen too many new Satellite laptops die from overheating a couple months after purchase; a second hand one that still works is a miracle from my point of view ;D
