Please help! It takes longer before my desktop icons and task bar to show up. All I see is desktop background nothing else. I tried scanning with spybot and avast ofc there is virus and threats after not scanning for over a month but then after 2nd scan there is no virus to make things clear. Now after trying system restore it fixed the problem temporarily but then after 1-2 days the problem is back. I don't know where is the problem I don't install anything.

I would try with a clean Windows setup and a new hard drive. An older drive or one with issues can take longer and longer to load. Also make sure you have enough RAM to run the system, 2 gig is almost the minimum you would want for basic use under XP and 7 with 4 gig being the goal.

Look in System Configuration/Start Up and see how many items you have checked. Then look and see how many items you have in Start/All Programs/Startup.
