I've got a Gigabyte B75M-3DH motherboard (see
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4315#ov) and installed a Palit GTX660 graphics card. Everything is perfect with this card.
I have a question though. A friend gave me a Soundblaster Titanium Fatality X-Fi (see http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&CatName=Sound+Blaster&prodID=17791&prodName=PCI+Express+X-Fi+Titanium+Fatal1ty+Pro+Series ) sound card.
My question is the following: when the Palit card is installed, it is installed to the rightmost PCIe, the one closest to the CPU. The card however takes the width of two cards. So, if you look at the motherboard picture, it takes the area of both the rightmost PCI Express (x16) as well as of one PCI slot at its left. Therefore, if one wants to install a PCI card, he definitely has to install it into the single PCI slot that is now available, which is the second slot from the left.
This means that the sound card might block the air flow of the Palit GTX 660! Will this be a problem? Does your graphics card use the fan blade to get air from the area which will be occupied by the sound card? Or does the fan blade draw air from the computer case front, like the crossfire cards do?
I have provided a picture that shows my board as well as the installed
palit gtx660. The picture also shows the free PCI slot, where I am
considering to install the sound card I would appreciate if you could provide advice here. I do not want to damage the palit due to inadequate air flow, even though I do have a front, back and side 12cm motherboard controlled fans installed in the case. No overclocking at all, on all components.
