Can I use DDR2 and DDR3 Ram together

In my motherboard there 4 slots for RAM 2 for DDR2 and remaining 2 slots for DDR3 currently I am using 1GB ram of DDR2 now m looking to purchase 4GB RAM of DDR3 will both the RAMs work together or they will effect my PC.

No, they will not work together. Your M/B has that option so you can use one OR the other but not together at the same time.

It should say that it can't be done because the motherboard or memory modules could be damaged, but it's easier to ask than having to read the user manual.

The memory controller can only do one or the other. If you have a board that has both DDR3 and DDR2 slots you can only use one standard or the other.
