Hey guys, I bought about a month or 2 ago a z97 motherboard and it is not running well
with my corrent 670, sadly I found that out after I installed the new cpu in the new motherboard
and only about a month later I found out that the problems were caused because the 670
has problems running with a z97 motherboard.
I need to get a new Gpu now, my options are mainly the 970 or the 390 and I find
many opinions to each side, Nvidia drivers and physx and on the other hand
8GB of VRAM which can be quite future proof.
Which would you go for? also I might sli them in the future instead of getting a new card, which
one would you reccomand for SLI/CF? Thanks!

I would personally recommend the R9 390 because of it's better performance in games.
However the GTX 970 has perks, including slightly lower temps and power consumption. Also after both are overlcocked both the GTX 970 and R9 390 will perform near identically.

You are much better off selling your R9 390 or GTX 970 and purchasing the Pascal series later on if that has been released, if not a GTX 980 Ti

For 1080P gaming even 3.5 GB of VRAM is more than enough.

i think as for right now with pascal coming next year you should grab whichever you can find the best deal on and use it until pascal comes out. as long as you stay on a 1080 screen they are both going to perform well enough to keep to gaming with ease. if you really have to CF/SLI i might recommend the 970 because it takes a little less power and stays a little cooler(im pretty sure?) and when dx12 comes out you will have 7gb of vram which would be fine for 1440p and even 4k games as of right now. but make sure you can use your current psu to sli with because if you cant buying another card and a bigger psu would probably not be a good idea if you can just get a new card next year for around the same amount!

edit: but you will only get the 7gb of vram if they actually program it into the game as well, so keep that in mind
