I was attempting to push in the retainer clip and it had some resistance, I found out after lifting the clip that there were small dents on the sides of the cpu (Pictures are provided) and I have looked it up and people with the same damage have reported it not damaging their cpu or cpu temps. I would like to get your opinion on that. But mostly I want to know what I might have done wrong or what I have to do to install it correctly.

There is a decent amount a force needed to close the retaining bracket down. It is normal. The dents on the sides of the CPU are normal and are meant to line up with the socket, you'll notice there's 2 pieces on the socket that line up with the CPU. If you want to make sure you didn't wreck anything, remove the CPU and make sure you didn't bend any pins. Or...you can just fire it up and hope for the best. Your choice! I think you're ok, I know alot of first time builders freak out about this part and in all honesty you can mess up your mobo if this is done wrong. Either way I think you're ok. Goodluck!!

As I have done some more research I have found that having dents there is normal and that the force needed to push it in is normal, but I would in fact like a possible confirmation of this fact from somebody as this is my first build and I'm not too sure about everything. Thanks for the help!
