Solution: Had to use USB to install Windows; dvd drive did not support UEFI

I got a 3tb drive, formatted it to GPT and reserved a 50 gb partition for Windows 8.1 64bit. I tried installing, but it tells me the drive is of the GPT partition and windows can't install.

The motherboard is UEFI, Windows is 64bit, HDD is GPT, I can't find any other reason why Windows won't install. I tried installing Linux Mint and there were no problems, so what's happening with Windows?

Is there some sort of additional condition I need to fulfill for Windows to install? I did read that Windows needs to make 2 additional partitions (ESP and MSR), but it flat out won't allow me to do that in the 50 gb partition.

Specs:

ASUS Mini ITX DDR3 1600 Motherboards AM1I-A

Kingston HyperX FURY 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM

AMD Athlon 5350 APU, 2.05Ghz

TOSHIBA PH3300U-1I72 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5"

Solution
Not sure what happens.
Try setting in BIOS Boot device control to UEFI Only.
and Boot from Storage Devices to UEFI driver first.
As an option, you can format the drive as NTFS, install Windows and then use the Disk Unlocker downloaded from https://www.asus.com/ro/Motherboards/AM1IA/HelpDesk_Download/
