I tried to clone my Intel 730 series 240 gb ssd with the Intel Migration software, but it wont let me select the ssd as a destination disk. Whenever I try and clone it, I am able to select my hard drive as a source disk, but when I try to select a destination disk, my ssd is grayed out and not available to be selected. I have tried to clone it with other software like EaseUS, but whenever I do that, my computer won't boot from the ssd. I have also tried wiping the ssd clean and trying the Intel software, yet the same thing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Blake

if the HDD is larger than the SSD, even though you're only using 90 GB of space on the HDD, you need to reduce the partition on the HDD down to a size smaller than the SSD, try 210 GB - you can always expand it on the SSD after the clone. Then only clone that partition from the HDD to the SSD

on the EaseUS website they have another program, with a free ware version called Partition Manager - download it and then use it to downsize the partition on your HDD

If you are upgrading your drive, but not changing machine, there are plenty of other clone programs that work better.

If you are moving to another machine that is a different story.

download EaseUS ToDo Backup, it;s free and i've been using since 2008 and it's super - i clone my ssd weekly and had tried all the others - superfast

the interface is super easy to learn - on the taskbar select "clone' vs "backup", then on the 2nd page when you're selecting the target drive to clone to, be sure to select "optimize for ssd' and "sector by sector"

I just tried that. I selected the ssd as the target drive, but it said there is insufficient drive space. This doesn't make sense because the ssd is 240 gb and the hard drive that I am trying to clone it off of has only used about 90 gb of space. Any ideas?
