Hey everyone, I'm planning on swapping out my RAM for a 2 8gb sticks of 2400mhz, 1.65V G.Skill Trident but have been reading mixed reports of whether its okay to do without a K series processor?

I have a z97 board but have heard I may damage the processor? Seems unlikely but wanted to make sure, I'll be upgrading the CPU in a few months anyway but would rather not have to wait.
If I stick with the XMP profile would it all be chill or might I wake up one day to find my PC on fire?

yep because 1.65v is the limit for intel chips. when DDR3 first came out people had issues because some sticks were 2.0v or above and AMD supported it, while Intel chips would burn out the memory controller with that high of voltage.
