I have a D-link DIR-655 router that I have been using without issue for months now. I recently changed my internet service; I had cable before, and have cable again, with a brief interruption in service (The roommate who was paying for it moved out, I went with the same company afterward). The modem the ISP provided is a HitronTechnologies CGN2-RES, which is different than the old modem.
After the install, my PC will connect to the internet with a direct wired connection from the modem, and the network still works fine - all devices connect to it without a problem. However, if the modem is hooked up to the router, internet connection fails.
I have tried power cycling the modem and router, I have tried resetting the router and setting the network up anew. I have ping tested the network and only external pings fail.
I would just think it was an issue with the router, but it was working fine not long ago.
